2014 Airstream Classic Limited 31 Review
A house on wheels, the Airstream Classic Limited is built and designed for the long term. Combining practicality and design, this wheeled-abode is perfect for those seeking a home, without the commitment of a house.
With only three floorplans to choose from, we were instantly drawn to the Classic 31 – mainly because its residential-style layout leaves enough space between the toilet and the fridge. The Airstream Classic 31 has an exterior length of 31’, exterior width of 8’5.5”, interior width of 8’1”, exterior height with A/C of 9’7.5”, and interior height with A/C of 6’5”. The Classic 31 has a hitch weight of 805 lbs, unit base weight of 7,254 lbs, gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 lbs, and net carrying capacity of 2,746 lbs. For water, it has a fresh water tank capacity of 54 gallons, black water tank capacity of 39 gallons, and gray water tank capacity of 37 gallons.

The Airstream Classic Limited is built on aluminum wheels. It features four stabilizer jacks, stainless steel A-frame protectors, and LRD 15” radial black wall tires. Like the rest of the Airstream family, the Classic Limited resembles a large silver bullet. Its roof is finished with white aluminum. Even the grab-handle is made of cast aluminum. Airstream insulated and enclosed the underbelly and tanks. Panoramic windows hide the interior with full closeout drapes and pleated day/night shades.
When we step into the Classic 31, we’re welcomed with a hickory interior. The space is decorated with real wood drawer boxes, fabric valances, and oil-rubbed bronze hardware. Both front and rear overhead roof lockers are equipped with raised panel doors and directional reading lights. The interior skin is covered in fabric and the soft ceiling is covered in vinyl, while the wood-grain seamless vinyl flooring adds extra warmth to the space.

Whether you like it or not, full-time living goes hand-in-hand with cooking. Airstream Classic’s kitchen provides ample space for chopping, washing and preparing. A double bowl sink comes with covers so dirty dishes can be hidden from plain sight. The bronze pullout faucet is oil-rubbed and comes with a soap dispenser. Cereal boxes and condiments can be hidden in the pantry. Prepare meals on the three-burner black cooktop, equipped with an oven that has a stainless steel door. Leftovers can be stored in the two-way automatic refrigerator, equipped with a brushed stainless steel door and an adjustable thermostat. For added convenience, the kitchen includes a spice rack, a cutlery drawer, and a maple hardwood drawer organizer.
When dinner’s ready, summon your guests to the dining area. Serve food at the dinette, which is illuminated under the decorative dinette light. If you don’t want to entertain your guests with good conversation, you can always rely on your 26” LED TV, which comes with a premium audio/video package. You can also pop a disc into the Blue-Ray DVD/CD Player. If you want to set a romantic mood, then turn off the television, plug in your iPod and play some romantic tunes from your two-way speakers. Entertainment comes with many options. When you finish dinner, you can move your guests to the lounge sofa, where drinks can be served. The Classic 31 also comes with a writing table and chair storage, located beside the lounge.

After a long day, clean yourself up in the bathroom. Equipped with the essentials, Classic 31’s bathroom also features a linen closet, towel bars and ample walking space. Brush your teeth over the Corian lavatory top, which has a large bowl and soap dispenser. Store toiletries in the large medicine cabinet above the sink. All bath accessories come in oil-rubbed bronze – even the frame of the shower door. The fiberglass shower features an LED shower light. Last but certainly not least, the Classic 31 comes with a China toilet.
When you’re ready to call it a day, retreat to your bedroom. Climb onto your queen bed and get comfortable on the pillow top innerspring mattress, covered with a quilted bedspread. Cedar-lined wardrobes are found on both sides of the bed, equipped with hardwood-framed, mirrored, hinged wardrobe doors. You can also store things under the bed and in the under-bed storage boxes, which can be removed. The bedroom features HDMI prewire, so those who enjoy watching television before bed can request an LED television.
